PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria Fire Department along with multiple companies responded Wednesday to a structure fire in the 2400 block of Wisconsin.
One occupant was taken to a local hospital with burn injuries. Their condition was unavailable.
Fire Battalion Chief Nathan Rice said one firefighter was injured fighting the fire.
“I believe he was on the stairwell at the time. And, he slipped on the stairs,” Rice said.
Rice said the firefighter’s injuries were minor. He was treated and released.
Crews had the fire knocked down within 15 minutes, but remained on the scene to put out hot spots.
