PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) — A Peoria man charged with murder in his wife’s death pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Thursday.
Michael L. Vorrath, 63, was arrested December 13 and faces one charge of first-degree murder. He could receive 100 years in prison due to the age of the victim.
Police arrested Vorrath December 13. He was held on $1 million bond.
Nancy Vorrath was found unresponsive November 23, with an autopsy report finding she died from drowning and suffered multiple, and significant, blunt force injuries, consistent with inflicted trauma.
Michael’s Attorney, Chris McCall says they plan to give a strong defense.
“Our client has a long standing history of service in this community, he has not been in trouble before, and we look at his case and do the best possible for him and we look forward to defending him,” said McCall.
