PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria area will likely see all types of precipitation this weekend.
News partner 25 News Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins predicts heavy rain will spread over Central Illinois Friday with two to three inches of rainfall along and east of the Illinois River.
“The rain will turn into a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow Saturday morning into early afternoon. Minor ice accumulation is expected. Anywhere from a tenth of an inch to a quarter inch is possible,” Collins said.
The wintry mix will change to all snow late Saturday afternoon into late evening.
“The Peoria Metro Area will see two to four inches of snow with strong winds causing blowing and drifting,” Collins said.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Peoria area beginning at midnight Friday through midnight Saturday.
A Flood Watch will also be in effect for the Peoria area from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
