PEORIA, Ill. — The big Saturday winter storm has affected travel, both on the roadways and via the airways.
“Most of the flights, if not all of the flights, in and out of Chicago [to and from Peoria],” said Gene Olson, General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport Director.
“What happens is, a lot of times, hubs get congested, and they can’t get airplanes in and out of the hubs’ airports, and so they’ll do some preemptive cancellations.”
Still, travel to and from other cities is just fine.
“We’re still seeing flights from Orlando, from Atlanta, Dallas, and Charlotte coming in and out of Peoria. Conditions are just fine, and there’s no impediment to those flights operating,” he said.
Olson said anyone having to travel Saturday evening should sign up with their respective airline’s message service for any developments that may arise.
