PEORIA Ill. — The General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport will soon offer nonstop flights to Nashville, Tennessee.
Allegiant Airlines is set to begin direct flights from PIA to Nashville on June 4, 2020.
“We are very excited about this new opportunity to connect Central Illinois Travelers to another signature destination with Allegiant. In addition to the leisure focus, Nashville is another popular business destination for the Peoria Area,” said Airport Director Gene Olson.
Olson said the flights will begin as seasonal.
“But if it’s well supported, meaning people are buying lots of tickets, that could extend further into the winter months,” he said.
The flights to and from Nashville will start out two days a week on Sunday’s and Thursday’s.
“You can go down Sunday and come back Thursday if you’re on a business trip. You can go down Thursday and have the whole weekend, and come back Sunday if you’re having a leisure trip,” Olson said. “It’s just about perfect.”
“We have a long history with Allegiant dating back to some of their earliest routes and look forward to strengthening our partnership with them as we add this new Nashville service.”
Nashville will be Allegiant’s seventh location travelers can fly to out of Peoria.
