PEORIA, Ill. — Snow, rain, and freezing rain, oh my! Peoria snow fighters are prepping for winter weather to return on Friday.
Sie Maroon with Peoria Public Works said they will pre-treat the roads before precipitation hits.
“This whole forecast seems to be almost identical to last week, with the exception that they are not calling for rain on the front end,” Maroon said.
Plows will go through the area pre-treating with brine, a liquid salt.
“And then we will be ready to roll into the streets for when the storm hits,” Maroon said. “We’ll maintain it throughout the day.”
Maroon said there will be crews on around the clock.
After two inches of snow accumulates on the pavement, snow fighters will move into residential streets to plow.
“We just typically go in and plow, but now we’re going to have to evaluate the icing and see what it might require, if it’s going to require a different type of treatment or a different type of attack on those streets,” Maroon said.
