PEORIA, Ill. — Another round of winter weather is headed for Central Illinois.
News partner 25 News Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins predicts the snow will begin after lunch time Friday and continue through the evening hours.
“The Peoria metro (area) can expect about 3 inches of snow. It’ll change to freezing rain and sleet for a few hours this (Friday) evening then change to rain after midnight,” Collins said.
Strong winds and frigid temperatures are also expected to cause problems.
“Temperatures will fall to single digit lows Sunday morning and wind chills five to 15 below zero,” Collins said.
Rapid freezing of untreated surfaces and standing water is possible.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln, Illinois has issued a Winter Weather Advisory noon Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday for the Peoria area.
