PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a fight at the county Juvenile Detention Center Tuesday night.
“We had three or four deputies respond to help quell an active situation that involved multiple juvenile detainees fighting with staff,” Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell said.
Asbell said the brawl broke out around 9 p.m. Deputies were called to the Detention Center by a call for assistance.
“I believe there were some injuries to the Detention Center staff. I can confirm there were no injuries to any of the detainees or Sheriff’s Office staff,” Asbell said.
The Juvenile Detention Center is overseen by 10th Circuit Chief Judge Paul Gilfillan.
The incident was referred to the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
