PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. — A Peoria business is doing it’s part in feeding area children.
Sherman’s held a meal packing event Friday as part of the “No Child Hungry” campaign. Employees at Sherman’s, along with General Manager Paul Sherman packaged meals and boxed them up at their Peoria Heights warehouse.
The meals, which are specially designed and certified by the FDA, will be delivered to the Peoria area food bank.
The meals contain the nutrition a child needs each day, and contain 21 minerals and vitamins along with soy protein and rice.
“The fact that thousands of children die each day due to lack of food and nutrition is unacceptable. I’m proud that we have the opportunity to help locally in our community,” said Sherman.
In February 2018, Sherman’s buying group, Nationwide Marketing Group, formed a relationship with “No Child Hungry”, which strives to end child hunger around the corner and around the world.
Since then, the Nationwide community has collectively packed more than 1-million meals at various events around the country.
