SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — With confusion abounding in Iowa, Primary Election season got underway Monday in the United States, and Illinoisans can cast their votes as early as Thursday.
Illinois’s official Primary date isn’t until March 17th, but there are many options to take care of voting ahead of time.
“In some jurisdictions, you are able to vote at specified early voting locations, and in some, you will vote at your local election authority’s office, which is typically the county clerk’s office,” said Illinois Board of Elections Spokesperson Matt Dietrich.
Dietrich said many Illinoisans take advantage of the opportunity to vote early, and for him, it all boils down to one factor.
“Convenience,” he said.
“You can vote on the day you select, at the time you select, and you can avoid the lines that can sometimes occur on Election Day.
“Early voting has gotten more popular ever since it began. It seems to grow every year.”
In Peoria County, voters may go to the Election Commission office on Brandywine Dr. Tazewell, Stark, Marshall, Putnam, Knox, and Woodford voters are to visit the county clerk’s office in Pekin.
Fulton County early voting takes place at the Fulton County Courthouse.
