DUNLAP, Ill. — Dunlap firefighters Firefighters were called around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 2000 block of W. Blackberry Lane on reports of a garage fire.
Within minutes, flames spread from the attached garage to the house and through its roof.
Five fire departments responded to two mutual aid calls, including Peoria, Peoria Heights, and Chillicothe.
“Our truck crew, which was Truck 14, did a search of the residence. Nobody was inside the residence. However, they did locate a cat. The condition of the cat is unknown at this time,” Peoria Battalion Chief Steve Rada said.
Rada said the home’s attached garage was a total loss.
“As a result of this fire, there was extensive smoke, water and fire damage to the home,” Rada said.
Dunlap crews remained on the scene for roughly three hours.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
