PEORIA, Ill. — A teenager was taken into custody for shooting a man in the leg.
Peoria Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert on Sunday Feb. 2, just after 10:00 p.m. While on their way to the scene, addition information was received of a shooting victim inside the Johnson Mini Mart on Johnson St.
The shooting victim was an adult male with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
During the investigation, officers developed information that the suspect was a 14-year-old male, according to Public Information Officer Amy Dotson.
The juvenile was arrested Friday at the Peoria Police Department for Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Mob Action with Injury. He was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
“No further information can be released regarding the juvenile due to his age,” Dotson said.
