PEKIN, Ill. — Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley has identified a 79-year-old man from Keokuk, Iowa as the sole occupant of a car involved in a fatal crash near Morton Friday night.
Illinois State Police said Wilburn Cole was going the wrong way on I-155, near Exit 28, when he collided with another vehicle.
Cole was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 9:28 p.m. Friday.
“The preliminary autopsy findings show the death was caused by blunt force injuries. Of course, toxicology tests are still pending,” Hanley said.
The case remains under investigation by Illinois State Police and the coroner’s office.
