PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. — Peoria Heights police have made an arrest in connection with the armed robbery of Oliver’s restaurant.
43 year old Franklin Cotton of Peoria Heights was taken into custody Friday and booked on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault.
Cotton also is wanted on a burglary warrant from Marshall County.
Peoria Heights police responded to the restaurant at around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday. The lone employee in the bar told the officer a man entered the front door holding a handgun and demanded money from the cash register.
The suspect was given the money and then fled on foot and headed west on Samuel Avenue.
An officer and a police dog followed footprints in the snow to the north through the Pearl Industries parking lot, where the trail ended.
Peoria Heights Police Chief Dustin Sutton said solid tips about the suspect came into the department Thursday after police shared security-camera photographs taken inside and outside of Oliver’s.
