PEORIA, Ill. – A 46-year-old Galesburg woman succumbed Saturday night to injuries sustained in a two-car accident a week prior to her death.
The Peoria County Coroner’s Office reported Mona J. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at 7:12 p.m. at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
“She was in critical condition for most of the week before her condition deteriorated, and she passed away,” Harwood said.
Rodriguez was involved in a Feb. 8 head-on collision in the 2000 block of Farmington Rd. in West Peoria. Crews responded to the scene shortly after 9 P.M.
The coroner ruled blunt force trauma injuries as the reason for her death.
“There will be no autopsy. But, with all cases involving a death in a motor vehicle, we do toxicology testing. And, that’s pending at this time,” Harwood said.
