PEORIA, Ill. — Starting March 29, the Murray Baker Bridge will be closed, putting a strain on traffic in downtown Peoria near the Bob Michel Bridge.
Emily Watson, CityLink’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations, says they expect delays throughout the day during the week, but especially during the morning and afternoon commutes.
“Those times especially are going to be even more heavy traffic in those areas. So, there is a great possibility that there will be a delay in our lineup being able to depart our Transit Center,” Watson said.
CityLink is encouraging passengers to plan out their daily commute in advance with the trip planner powered by Google Maps on CityLink’s website; using the Moovit public transit app on Android or Apple/iOS devices.
“They can put in their starting origin and then their final destination, and the Google Map will show them exactly what routes they need to take and give them times. Just making it easier for them,” Watson said.
The rehabilitation of the Murray Baker Bridge is scheduled to conclude on October 31, 2020.
