METAMORA, Ill. — Drivers will see increased patrols in March by the Illinois State Police.
The increased patrols include roadside safety checks, nighttime enforcement patrols, occupant restraint enforcement patrols, and alcohol countermeasure enforcement patrols.
Public Information Officer, Haylie Polistina, said that ISP wants the community to celebrate the upcoming holiday safely.
“We will have details where we’ll make sure people are wearing their seat belts, we will make sure that people are not distracted driving, that they’re not on their phone,” Polistina said.
She said they will make sure that drivers are not under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or cannabis.
“It’ll be nicer weather, more people out, more people enjoying themselves,” Polistina said. “We just hope that people enjoy themselves safely.”
Polistina said to remember to buckle up and designate a sober driver.
