MORTON, Ill. — Illinois State Police confirm one person has died after a head-on collision on eastbound I-74 near Morton.
ISP Public Information Officer, Haylie Polistina, said a van was traveling westbound when they hit a patch of ice and crossed into eastbound traffic, striking a semi truck head-on.
“The driver of the van was pronounced dead on scene by the Tazewell County Coroner,” Polistina said.
Polistina said the other two occupants of the van and the semi driver were taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria with non-life threatening injuries.
ISP also said the eastbound lanes of I-74 are expected to be closed to traffic until about 1:00 p.m. as they reconstruct the crash scene.
