PEORIA, Ill. — Per usual, Peoria road crews were up all of Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, treating the streets in preparation for the morning commute.
All 21 Peoria Public Works routes saw plenty of plow traffic with snow predicted to fall throughout the morning.
Public Works Superintendent Sie Maroon called it a work-in-progress.
“Within the city limits, themselves, and in town, we’re starting to show some pavement,” Maroon said of Wednesday’s early morning road conditions.
“Not as clear as we’d like at this time, but it’s the conditions we’re dealing with. It’s a little bit more of a challenge because the heaviest snow is coming down right now.”
Despite this, Maroon said the two-inch benchmark for treating residential areas had not yet been reached.
“Those [streets] are definitely going to be snow-covered and snow-packed throughout the day until we can get to those if, in fact, we do go to them, and that’s going to be dictated by the storm and how much more snow we get,” he said.
“We’ll continue to monitor our accumulation.”
Maroon said conditions looked favorable for the two-inch mark to be reached. Should that happen, following the “ABC” system, the city’s “B” streets would be first up to be treated, then the “C” streets, and then “A.”
