TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. — Lesli Jett, 33, is facing three counts of first degree murder for the death of 4-year-old Tate Thurman.
Jett appeared in Tazewell County Court Friday via laptop, and the judge set her bond at $3 million. Additional charges of aggravated battery were also given to Jett.
The next hearing for Jett has been set for March 19. She could face up to 100 years of time behind bars.
Jett is the girlfriend of 4-year-old Thurman’s father.
East Peoria Fire Paramedics were called Tuesday Feb. 18 to a home in the 100 block of Jefferson Ct. for a child in full cardiac arrest. Crews on scene requested police assistance two minutes after arriving.
The child was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in critical condition, and was pronounced brain dead on Thursday, Feb. 20.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said that Thurman’s injuries were not what Jett had originally reported. The child had bruises from head to toe, and died from blunt force injuries.
