LINCOLN, Ill. — A former Bradley University student-athlete is among three people killed in Tuesday’s plane crash on I-55 near Lincoln.
22-year-old Mitch Janssen, a 2019 graduate and four-year baseball letterman, was aboard the plane that crashed just before 9 A.M.
33-year-old Matthew Hanson of Wisconsin and 30-year-old Kevin Chapman of Urbana have also been confirmed as having been on the plane.
Janssen in 2018 became the youngest pilot in the world who had the rating to fly the Embraer Phenom 100 jet.
He moonlighted as a commercial charter jet pilot during his junior and senior years at Bradley.
Since May, Janssen had been flying for United Airlines.
