PEORIA, Ill. — An event dedicated safety and health with employers and employees is in its 29th year at the Peoria Civic Center.
The Downstate Illinois Occupational Safety and Health (DIOSH) Day kicked off Wednesday, to educate citizens on many different safety aspects in work environments.
Barry Salerno, Area Director for the OSHA office, said it is an important event that is held.
“The topics change every year. But, it’s from fall protection, to electrical safety, it could be specific standards, and how to address safety and evaluate safety in the work place,” Salerno said.
A wide range of companies from central Illinois come to the event.
“It’s from manufacturing and construction to service industries to retail, etc,” Salerno said.
DIOSH Day is more than just a day for employers and employees to be updated on safety standards, but also to network.
Those attending the event can weave through the booths from different businesses and listen to guest speakers.
The event receives a proclamation every year declaring DIOSH day.
