PEORIA, Ill. — A child’s playing with a lighter was determined to be the cause of a blaze Saturday afternoon in North Peoria.
Crews were dispatched to the home on N. Country Ridge Ln. just before 4, at which time all five occupants had already made it out of the home safely.
Firefighters entered into the home through the garage and found the fire was started in the first floor bathroom of the two-story home.
They were able to extinguish the fire within ten minutes of arrival.
The home sustained around $75,000 in damage.
Neighbors were providing temporary housing to the residents.
