SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Time is running out to be able to vote by mail in the March 17th Primary Election.
The last day to request a mail-in ballot is Thurday.
State Board of Elections Spokesperson Matt Dietrich said people in 2020 are voting by mail in large quantities.
“Last Presidential Primary, there were 119 vote-by-mail ballots cast,” he said.
“So far this year, we’ve had 207,000 vote-by-mail ballots requested.”
Dietrich said unlike in previous elections, you don’t have to have a reason to request a 2020 mail-in ballot.
“All you have to do is make sure your ballot is postmarked no later than Election Day when you return it,” he said.
“It’s really simple. It’s gotten more and more popular every year, and for those who are concerned, this year, regarding coronavirus, it’s the one sure way to avoid ever having to enter a polling place.”
