SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Primary election day in Illinois will remain scheduled for Tuesday, March 17.
Governor J.B. Pritzker is encouraging all local election authorities to expand the hours of early voting every day.
“Voting early usually means avoiding any crowds. You should take advantage of that if you don’t want to wait until election day,” Pritzker said.
Voters can also pick up mail-in ballots at their local election office.
Local clerks and boards of election are working diligently to ensure a clean and safe environment, according to Pritzker.
“The Illinois Department of Public Health issued a guidance, specifically for polling places to make sure that election judges, volunteers, and voters are healthy and safe,” Pritzker said.
