MORTON, Ill. — Morton Community Unit District 709 Superintendent Jeffrey Hill said in his weekly news release COVID-19 cases are up among students, but the number of students in quarantine is down.
As of Friday, 11 students had been diagnosed with COVID-19, up from four on March 26. 50 students were in quarantine compared to 61 two weeks ago.
Staff number remained unchanged, with three staff members being positive and six in at-home isolation.
“Perhaps that was to be expected given the recent warm weather, holiday get-togethers and vacations,” said Hill. “All in all, however, we can’t complain as we remain near school-year lows where COVID is concerned.”
Hill continued to say it’s important to see the school year through to the finish line as successfully as it has been so far.
