Ingles said the fire was the result of a first degree murder.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Kailey Windish.
Pekin Police and the Pekin Fire Department collaborated with Illinois State Police, the Illinois Fire Marshal, US Marshals, and the Tazewell County State’s Attorney’s Office on an investigation.
39-year-old Matthew Null of Manito was arrested in connection with the incident, and charged with first degree murder, concealment of a homicidal death, felony theft, fraud, arson, and unlawful use of weapons.

PEKIN, Ill. — A Saturday residential fire in Pekin resulted in the finding of a dead body by fire crews and police.
The call was received around 2:00 about a blaze at a home on Gunion Ave.
Public Information Officer Billie Jo Ingles said an investigation had begun.
Ingles said the fire was fully extinguished.
