PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County Coroner has identified the victim of a fatal accident near OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Tuesday afternoon.
Coroner Jamie Harwood says Brian E. Koch, 39 of Peoria, was pronounced dead at the scene about 20 minutes after the crash at Glen Oak and Spalding at 3:40 p.m.
Koch was behind the wheel of one of two vehicles involved in the accident. His vehicle rolled over several times, causing him to be pinned underneath the car.
Police have not said what caused the crash. The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Harwood says multiple blunt force trauma and asphyxiation were the causes of death.
An investigation into the crash continues.

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police and Fire responded to two accidents Tuesday, and one of them ended up being fatal.
Police say the driver of one of two vehicles involved in a crash around 3:40 p.m. at Glen Oak and Spalding near OSF Saint Francis Medical Center was pronounced dead at the scene after the vehicle overturned and pinned him underneath. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to Saint Francis with minor injuries. Other details of just what happened weren’t released.
Another two-vehicle crash happened less than two hours later in the 6000 block of North University, and fire officials say a driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a vehicle ended up upside-down in a ravine, and had to be taken out of the vehicle through a window.
The second driver in that crash refused treatment.
