PEORIA, Ill. – Two restaurants will be on the ground level of the new OSF HealthCare headquarters in downtown Peoria after the headquarters opens at the first of next year.
A Great Harvest Bread Company location will be in one corner of the first floor of the complex off Adams street, and a new restaurant owned by Travis Mohlenbrink — who already operates eateries such as Thyme, Cayenne, and Sugar, among others — will occupy the space at the corner of Washington and Fulton streets.
“To be a part of, honestly, such a monumental venture for us here in the Peoria area, it was just super exciting for me to do,” said Mohlenbrink.
“Saffon Social” will feature steaks, seafood, and pasta, and will open likely next summer, while Great Harvest Bread Company will open up earlier than that, in January.
“Seeing what OSF…how they have been committed to Peoria, the Peoria area, seeing how committed they’ve been to even coming downtown as a long-term resident and investment here, it just made a lot of sense to continue to grow, and be a part of this project, said Craig Janssen, president of Central IL Doughboys, which owns Great Harvest.
OSF, meanwhile, says it is on track to open the headquarters and move 500 of its employees to an area that formerly housed a Caterpillar merchandise store, Chase Bank, the Block and Kuhl department store, and an A & P grocery, in January.
