PEORIA, Ill. — Just because you don’t have medical insurance, it doesn’t mean you can’t get a mammogram.
Dr. Christine Wigginton, a Diagnostic Radiologist with UnityPoint Health, says the health system is teaming up with the Tazewell County Health Department on Friday, October 15 to offer mammograms to women 40-64 years old free of charge.
Three locations for the event include UnityPoint Health-Methodist Diagnostic Center, the UnityPoint Health-Proctor Imaging Department and UnityPoint Health-Pekin Women’s Diagnostic Center.
To be eligible, you must live in Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford or Marshall County.
“They do recommend, of course, bringing a photo ID, and if they have two pay stubs, to bring them. But, they’ll still be able to work with it if not,” Wigginton said.
No appointments are necessary. Walk-in mammograms will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
