UPDATE – PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County Coroner has identified the victim of a Friday night homicide, Peoria’s 25th homicide victim this year.
Marteil Robinson, 31, of North Street in Peoria suffered multiple gunshot wounds and likely died seconds after the incident, according to Coroner Jamie Harwood following an autopsy.
Peoria Police had responded to a ShotSpotter alert and multiple calls of shots fired just after 9 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of Wilcox.
Officers found Robinson unresponsive and not breathing in the passenger seat of a vehicle.
Harwood said officers began life-saving measures before Robinson was transported by ambulance to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. Despite aggressive resuscitation efforts and treatment, Robinson was pronounced dead at 10 p.m.

PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police responded just after 9 p.m. Friday to a ShotSpotter alert and multiple calls of shots fired in the 600 block of W. Wilcox.
When officers arrived, they found an adult male unresponsive in the passenger seat of a vehicle.
The man had multiple gunshot wounds. Officers performed life-saving measures until AMT arrived and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The manner and cause of death will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
The shooting is being investigated as Peoria’s 25th homicide of the year.
