LINCOLN, Ill. โ The National Weather Service is changing the timing of a Flood Warning that will be in effect for the Illinois River at Peoria.
It was to start Wednesday night; now, it doesnโt start until Friday afternoon.
Forecasters say the Illinois River at Peoria is at 14.5 feet as of Wednesday morning, with flood stage being 18 feet. The river is expected to crest a foot above that Saturday evening.
Other parts of the Illinois River are already at flood stage, and already have flood warnings in effect.
The Illinois River at Havana, for example, is just a tenth of a foot above the 14 feet flood stage. It could rise to 18 feet by Monday morning.
