(UNDATED) — There are dozens of new charges filed against the man accused in connection with a deadly incident during a Christmas parade in Wisconsin last year.
39-year-old Darrell Brooks Jr. now faces more than 70 counts in connection with the incident.
Prosecutors say Brooks Jr. intentionally drove his SUV through a crowd attending and marching in the local parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin that night.
More than 60 people were hit and injured with 6 other people killed.
Initial details released by investigators had suggested Brooks’ may have been running away from an earlier domestic violence situation at the time.
Brooks was previously charged with six counts of first-degree intentional homicide related to the victims killed in the crash.
He now faces another 71 charges, including first degree recklessly endangering safety with a dangerous weapon, six counts of committing a hit and run causing a death, two felony charges of bail jumping and two counts of domestic abuse.
Brooks appeared in court Friday for a preliminary hearing.
His arraignment is scheduled in Waukesha County court next month.
