PEORIA, Ill. — Another round of winter weather is headed for the Peoria area, it’s just been pushed back a bit.
Chuck Collins, Chief Meteorologist with news partner 25 News, confirms that once the snow starts Thursday, it will keep the plows and street crews busy through the night.
“I think we’re still going to look at an inch per hour…so, that’s over eight hours…that’ll put us at 5-9 or 6-9 (inches) range. Some of those hours, we could see 2 inches per hour,” Collins said.
The snow is expected to be heavy at times, with strong winds making driving hazardous at times.
“I think southeast of the river, Tazewell, Woodford, McLean Counties, you might get in the upward threshold of that 9 inches. It all depends on the snowfall rate,” Collins said.
Collins adds, “Thundersnow can’t be ruled out. Don’t be surprised if you hear thunder with this snow.”
A Winter Storm Warning for the WMBD Listening area will remain in effect through 9 p.m. Thursday.
