PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man is pleading not guilty to charges he killed his young daughter by assaulting her.
Court records indicate Shamari Williams, 25, made the plea at an arraignment hearing Thursday to two counts of First-Degree Murder.
A grand jury indicted Williams this week. He was originally arrested February 1 after an autopsy found that two-year-old Emorri Green’s death to be a homicide.
Williams allegedly used a belt and his hands on Green.
Williams remains jailed on $1 million bond, and could go to trial as soon as April 25th.
