PEORIA, Ill. — The City of Peoria is promoting a new round of grant money aimed at helping fund capital improvement projects for certain local non-profit groups.
In a release on Monday, the city announced it has 450-thousand dollars available for non-profit groups that specifically serve low-income households.
The grant money is part of the newly announced Non-Profit Capital Program.
The funding comes by way of the Biden Administration’s “American Rescue Plan” as well as the city of Peoria’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) federal funding allocation.
City officials say the money must be used for the purpose of completing structural improvements like roof replacements or systems installation…or vehicle purchases to help clients.
“Ineligible items include items such as building acquisition, ongoing operating costs, purchase of construction equipment, staff expenses, and ongoing maintenance costs.”
The application period begins at 8:00 AM on Monday, February 21, and ends at 5:00 PM on Friday, March 18.
Applications will be reviewed by the CDBG Public Services Advisory Commission and agencies will be notified of the funding decision following City Council approval.
