PEORIA, Ill. — Crews responded around 3:30 a.m. Thursday to a house fire in the area of S. Charles and W. Hayes Streets in Peoria.
En route to the scene, firefighters were told that someone may have been inside the home.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and flames, but a search of the home’s interior found no one inside.
Battalion Chief Steve Rada said power and gas to the home was cut off to prevent any further hazards.
A fire investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the blaze, which remains under investigation.
Damage was estimated at $50,000.
No injuries were reported.
