PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria teenager who is charged in connection with the stabbing death of another teen has pleaded not guilty.
Court records indicate Damony Thompson, 19, made the plea to a charge of Mob Action.
He was originally facing a murder charge, but reports suggested prosecutors may not have been able to meet the burden of proof for that.
Thompson was arrested February 7th after Jawuan Lowe, 16, was stabbed near Quest Charter Academy and later died.
Thompson is jailed on $25,000 bond, and could go to trial as soon as May 16th.
A juvenile also faces several charges in connection with the attack.
