PEORIA, Ill. — While inflation may be to thank for an historic weekend of revenue at the Peoria Civic Center, managers at the venue are still celebrating it as encouraging news.
“We’re continuing to see great attendance and enthusiasm from fans. Many shows have chosen Peoria to start their tours and that is a testament to our dedicated, hard-working staff,” said Rik Edgar, General Manager of Peoria Civic Center.
“This momentum is great for the venue and Peoria and we look forward to our upcoming 2022 calendar.”
On Friday, Judas Priest’s highly anticipated concert became the second highest grossing theater concert in the Civic Center’s history.
The next night on Saturday, comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias set an all time record for highest grossing comedy act.
Both shows were sold out.
Of course, inflation has been driving up dollar amounts for almost everything, including access to live entertainment.
Early in the year, the nation saw the highest rate of inflationary growth since the 1980’s.
