PEORIA, Ill. – There’s a new man in charge for now at the Peoria Fire Department, and he’s the fifth chief in the last four years.
Now that Jim Bachman has retired as Chief, the city says Shawn Sollberger has taken over as Interim Chief. He was previously a Division Chief of Operations, and has been part of the fire force since 1998.
Sollberger tells 25 News he never expected he’d become chief, but he’s excited at the opportunity.
The city is still working to find a permanent chief.
Meantime, among the rest of Sollberger’s command staff:
- Rick Morgan, Division Chief of Operations, has been named Interim Assistant Chief
- Tony Cummings has been named Interim Division Chief of Operations
- Roland Tenley has been named Division Chief of Training
- Nathaniel Rice is Division Chief of Prevention
