BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – A teenager from Peoria was killed over the weekend in Bloomington after being shot.
McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder identifies the victim as 17-year-old Kanye Stowers, a student at Richwoods High School.
A preliminary autopsy finding indicates he died from a single gunshot wound.
An email from Richwoods’ principal on Tuesday told parents and students that counselors and social workers will be available through Thursday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
If additional support is needed outside of school hours, Richwoods Principal Carly Emken said hotlines are available.

Bloomington Police say officers were called to the shooting scene outside a home near Mill and Gridley Streets after 11:30 p.m. Friday.
Yoder was pronounced dead an hour later.
No arrests have been made, and no suspect information is being released.
“I want to give my sincerest condolences to the family of the 17 year old shooting victim,” said Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington, in a statement. “Our department is conducting a thorough and complete investigation. It is Bloomington’s fifth homicide this year. Peoria has six.
