PEORIA, Ill. — Three Peoria men are now facing a variety of gun and drug charges following a manhunt and brief foot chase late Thursday.
Peoria Police announced details of the incident on Friday.
According to a news release, just after 7 p.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle around Griswold and Grinnell Streets when the driver of that vehicle then sped off.
With the help of an Illinois State Police Air Operations team, PPD says they were able to catch the three runaway suspects, who also led officers on a brief foot chase near the 2100 block of North Bourland Avenue.
One of the suspects discarded a loaded weapon during the foot pursuit and it was recovered.
Another suspect broke out the basement window of a nearby residence and discarded a gun inside.
The suspects are identified as 28-year-old Auston Wood, 28-year-old Jacobi Turner-Claudin and 22-year-old Romon Douglas-Watkins.
Wood faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by Felon, Armed Violence, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Street Gang Member, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, and Resist/Obstruct Police.
Turner-Claudin is hit with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Resist/Obstruct Police.
Douglas-Watkins is charged with Resist/Obstruct Police.
