PEORIA, Ill. — A dryer fire caused thousands of dollars in damage this week, reportedly at the site of the Four Points by Sheratin Hotel in downtown Peoria.
Local fire officials say crews were called out to the lodging business around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Upon arrival, an employee of the hotel reported there was a commercial dryer unit full of linens that caught fire in the hotel basement.
All guests were presumably ordered to evacuate.
Peoria Firefighters say it took them less than 30 minutes to douse the blaze.
Smoke and water damage was reportedly contained to the basement.
No injuries were reported.
It’s still not clear exactly how the fire started, but a local fire investigator quickly determined it to be accidental.
