PEORIA, Ill. — We’re learning about a pair of overnight garage fires in Peoria with somewhat different outcomes.
One required the emergency demolition of an unoccupied house on Peoria’s south side. The other resulted thousands of dollars in damage to a home off West McClure Avenue and North North Street in Central Peoria.
Firefighters say they responded to the south side fire on South Arago and West Humboldt around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
They found fire in an unattached two-unit garage.
Flames spread to a porch and a nearby home and crews say they had to call in an emergency demolition crew following roughly two hours of fire fighting.
The West McClure Avenue house fire happened during the pre-dawn hours, around 2 a.m. Sunday, being contained in around 30 minutes and resulting in 25-thousand dollars in damage to the property.
No injuries were reported in either fire and the cause of both remain under investigation.
