PEKIN, Ill. — For years, TAPS (Tazewell Animal Protective Society) in Pekin has been finding new homes for pets that are brought to their shelter.
But, recently, they’ve seen a significant increase in the number of pets being returned.
“Unfortunately, a lot of them, the people are reporting that they’re not socialized, because they adopted them during COVID, and now they have these dogs that have never been around anyone. And, they want the shelter system to fix it…but, unfortunately, we can’t fix everything,” TAPS Executive Director Holly Crotty told WMBD’s Craig Collins.
Crotty said it’s important to research the type of pet you want, and to spend time with them before you take them home.
TAPS is having an open house Saturday (June 25) where you can see all the pets, dogs and cats, that are up for adoption.
Details about adoptions from TAPS are HERE.
