PEORIA, Ill. –Down she goes.
Police say a commercial tugboat operating near the McClugage Bridge experienced some kind of issue and sank to the bottom of the Illinois River this weekend.
According to 25 News, it happened Saturday, reportedly in the channel just north of the McClugage Bridge.
The Chief of the Fondulac Park District Police said everyone on board was rescued safely and there are no injuries to report.
Illinois Conservation Police also assisted in Saturday’s response.
For now, floating boueys will mark the site of the sinking and U.S. Coast Guard crews will be working to remove the sunken vessel over the next several days.
