PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria teenager could spend as much as 50 years in prison after pleading guilty in April to a charge of murder.
Peoria County Court records indicate Tashon Stewart, 18, was handed that sentence Thursday.
The Peoria Journal Star reports Stewart is expected to serve 100 percent of his sentence. However, because he was arrested as a juvenile, he could be eligible for parole in 20 years.
Stewart — who was 17 when he was arrested in November of 2020 — shot Tree Booker-Lawson, 23, multiple times and was found in a car on West Corrington Avenue.
Another murder charge and an Aggravated Battery charge were dropped in exchange for Stewart’s plea.
