PEKIN, Ill. – Any new wind power projects in Tazewell County are being held up for at least the next six months.
25 News reports the Tazewell County Zoning Board of Appeals Thursday night voted to impose a moratorium on wind turbines — this, after some lengthy and some potentially testy meetings on the matter in recent weeks.
The Zoning Board wants leaders to review current regulations, among other things.
“It will be a process because it has to go through land use committee, and they will make their recommendation to the county board,” said Duane Lessen, Zoning Board chair, to 25 News.
The board, however, has approved exemptions for any existing wind farms from any future changes to county code.
