PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria fire crews responded around 5:20 a.m. Friday to a residential fire in the area of W. Krause and S. Folkers Avenues.
Fire Battalion Chief Scott Strum said the first engine company on-scene found heavy fire at the back of the home, with the fire extending into its interior.
Crews had the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
A resident of the home got out safely before firefighters arrived.
The home suffered heavy fire, heat, and smoke damage.
A fire investigator was called to the scene, but the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
A Board-Up Crew was requested to secure the residence.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
