WASHINGTON, Ill. — KB-Strong Foundation is back with BrownFest this weekend in Washington.
It honors long-time Washington Basketball Coach Kevin Brown, who lost his battle with Glioblastoma in June 2019.
“We started the KB-Strong Foundation just to first and foremost, raise awareness around Glioblastoma, which is the deadliest form of brain cancer, of course that’s what we lost Kevin to. About that same time, Senator John McCain lost his battle with it, so it got some attention,” Jodi Brown, Coach Brown’s wife, says.
Jodi Brown tells WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, BrownFest, now in it’s 4th year, honors Coach Brown with a day outdoors, something he loved.
“We start Saturday at 10 a.m. with a 5K Run-Walk, a bags tournament that goes on throughout the day. We got DJs going from 9-5, and then we have Stone Cold Cowboys, who’ve been with us all four years…they’ll play at 5:00, and then we have another band, JammSammich at 8,” Brown says.
Brown says KB-Strong Foundation funds research for Glioblastoma, and then we also help families, whether they be patients in our five local counties, or those affected by Glioblastoma.
BrownFest will be held all day on Saturday, August 27 at Five Points Washington, located at 360 N. Wilmor Road, Washington.
